| Humming noise in 6 th gear, automatic |
|
After my 1st servicing (1 year, 25000 kms) I hear a humming noise when driving on high ways in 6 th gear. Lowering to 5 or even 4 will make the car very quiet, but putting it back into 6 th, and the humming noise starts again.
It happens at all rpms I tested from 1500-2500.
Any ideas on what the cause is, solutions?

What sort of speed are you doing when the humming starts?? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

It will only go into 6 th gear from 80 km/hr and the sound starts there until 170 when the road noise takes over.
As soon as I step away from the gas, it disappears.
The noise is not very loud, but annoying , sounds like you want to shift up in a manual car, but hey there is no 7 th...

MMMmmm It can sometimes make a hum in 6th if the box \ engine is labouring slightly and wants to kick down - but I would recommend a further checkup from the dealer for this one. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
