I've got so far with removing my old HPFP (D3 2006) and have come across two showstoppers.
One of the 10mm bolts holding down the pump is partially hidden under the oil seperator rear location holes so does this holey thing come off? Here's a bad photo.
It is this bolt.
I've got the belt cover and tensioner off but the fixed part of the plastic belt cover appears to be a one piece job unlike the one shown in another thread that has a removeable portion to allow pump removal so what do I do next?
Mine is like this. This is not mine btw.

I found the oil tube was held in place by a hidden 8mm bolt which is accessed from behind with my smallest 1/4" ratchet.
This made just enough play to force a 10mm socket between the oil tube and the pump for the last retaining bolt.
The pump didn't have torx screws at the back like later ones so I bent the belt backplate away with a wooden wedge and wrestled the pump up and forwards till it came out.
getting the new one in will be fun.
