It's not the turbo hat goes, it's the variable vane linkage that packs up. New ones (since Sept) are slowed to have a better lubricated linkage so slight difference from old ones. We'll see.
I've ticked the no difference box, cos it didn't - but it was also changed about a week later by the Dealer in their quest to find my ESF fault - and after it went in it had the MAP fault code.
I think it was ok, based on my testing, but who I am to argue - I'll have had most things changed under warranty by the time they've found the fault Mark.

No difference at all
Still hesitant off the starting blocks and 21.1 mpg according to the lie o meter, but it is short trips.
If I reset the lie o meter before a trip up the M5 I can get 30+ so not all is bad.

Cleaned mine and blanked the EGR's at the same time. Definitely made a difference, goes better and MPG increased by 2-3mpg.

My fuel economy definitely better and pickup definitely quicker. Medium oily gunk, hole not fully blocked.
I wonder, if after cleaning the auto has to re-adapt to different variables? After a couple of weeks it seems perkier, holding revs longer and kicking down sooner. What's the timeframe for it to adapt to a "new" driving style?

did a good long motorway drive yesterday, 120kph for 2 and half hours! no noticeable increase in pick up i dont think but even after the motorway drive im still on course to get 800km's from the tank i reckon! 765km's on clock when i parked @ airport yesterday and still a good bit above the light coming on so i reckon there is an increase in mpg, as previous driving at the run i did yesterday would have well and truly emptied her!
bearing in mind iv a manual and no cruise!

Another word - disagree.
I've noticed and quantified immediate improvements and know what my car does performance and economy wise under neat to day conditions. Something to do with 130,000 miles driving 3 x D3s.

No difference but then mine wasn't blocked up, just dirty.“There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

At the moment it appears to go quite a bit better, was well gunked up before, will see about MPG when I fill up again, but the range has been going up since I cleaned it. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Did the MAP sensor clean over two weeks ago at 55K miles. (Photos in my gallery before and after.)
Lots of crap around the sensor, but the hole was still clear... and that's probably why it made no difference.

After cleaning mine I'm now getting 2-3 mpg more. But I've also added redX so not sure what's give the improvement Not complaining either way though.

after reading "go check your map sensor now" i did... choked up bad, i very carefully cleaned without any solvents, without probing more than a couple of mm into the hole with cotton bud and suction via an adapted mini vac through muslin and result!! ball bearing size lump out from inside........ and an increase in fuel economy, 4 mpg, had been 23.3....now 27.2. same driving pattern, same mileage, waited for a while to check findings. it did make a difference. now to do the egr blanking and butterfly removal as the crap that came off the map sensor was like tar........not good. Buck blue, auto, hse, Loving it !!!!!!!!!
i ain't loaded, paid over the odds, but hell this is the B******s
