Horror Story!!!
From Facebook
Hi all !!
Oil Dilution update!!
There’s finally a permanent fix and a couple of cars have done the update already and it works!!
The Service dealership will require the vehicle for 3 days, engine removed, sump removed and the reader sensor changed with a new loom replacement included.
Then there is a software upgrade and that fixes the issue.
Luckily for me, upon inspection this morning I happen to have the latest sensor fitted ( they actually showed me the difference on their diagnostic machine) and all I had done was the software upgrade.
They finally fixed my issue!!
Please, everyone that has a 3.0td here book in your vehicle and get them to do the same !!!Discovery 5 tdv6 HSE Corris Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition

This should absolutely go on the D5 website. There are some seriously upset, ready to reject D5 owners on there with dealerships that are behaving abysmally.
I would copy and paste but don't have a login/membership because I'm a 'better the devil I know' D4 owner and not ready to cast my body, soul and mental health to the altar of McGovern again (not for the foreseeable future anyway !).My16 HSE Landmark - 2016 - Current. Indus Silver

This is D5 and so far this work has only been done in Australia. And I think by only one LR dealer.
Its unclear if this solution will be picked up by LR across Europe.
(Now I must get back to laughing as well and keep saying 3.0...petrol....3.0 petrol....3.0 petrol.... But that would be cruel and I'm not as cruel as DG )MY2008 D3 - It got me hooked...gone

Love my 2.0
I can't imagine why only one dealer would have found their own 'solution' to take this action and only on one motor ....if there is a permanent resolution then it would be controlled and rolled out by LR themselves as a TSB .

Maybe they don’t have much faith in a TSB coming out. Has LR fixed the issue in the DS?

No idea del
...surely they wouldn't carry out a replacement of the sensor unless it showed as failed under diagnostics ....then you would think if that were the case, the sensor would show up as failing on all engines affected. I just find it a bit odd tbh

Some one in the chain of command must have authorised it, dealers the world over aren’t known for their generosity. Maybe they’ve found some Antipodean guinea pigs?

I would take this with a shovel full of salt.
Currently the N222 v2 software update has solved my early service/oil dilution woes.
Mine has had 3 oil changes since May but all going ok so far now.
I very much doubt this vehicle has the same issue as mine and countless others.

Yes of course ...but for a failed sensor ....not as the single authorised miracle resolution to a seemingly world wide problem.
Personally I agree with Mildred and others that this whole dilution problem is a software issue which reports a service which is then dutifully acted upon by dealers.
