There is not an oil dilution issue.
In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

My April 3 litre D5 has had the 'oil dilution' problem three times and has now been sorted.
I believe one 'sorting' was a software update/problem but the other two 'sorts' involved filter and oil change I believe.
However what was done appears to have now sorted it as I have now got proper readings and no other warnings.
Even the 'Check spare wheel tyre pressure' warning has now been sorted, that was by me.
I was told to inflate to 50psi and replace with the valve at 9'o'clock when facing the vehicle from the rear.
I paid my local garage to do that for me and it has cured the problem even after being told by my local LR garage that it was another software problem and that I would be called forward when LR get round to up dating it.

Guy on the RRS forum had his oil tested, 8% dilution and high metal content.

In my experience Dealers do NOT do a proper quantitative oil analysis - they simply interrogate the ECU to see what the algorithm tells them the oil dilution figure is. i.e. it is a calculated figure.

I was told my oil was "OK" by the Dealer after the third premature oil service light, and yet my own, proper, (Millers oils) analysis showed 8% dilution, a figure Millers considered dangerous.

I had a significant argument with the supplying Dealer after that, the gist of which I will not repeat here, but which lead directly to my dropping both them and the brand as soon as I could. I will never accept being told bare faced lies.

When the DPF software calculates the engine oil dilution has reached a predetermined threshold (fuel being 7% of engine oil volume)

So 7% is acceptable ....8% is dangerous?? Confused

Isn’t one a measured amount and the other a calculated amount? I don’t know and don’t care it doesn’t affect me. But you have 3 vehicles with essentially the same engine, 2 have “issues” but one doesn’t. The one that doesn’t has used the engine for many years but doesn’t seem to have any problems relating to it, unless someone knows better. If it isn’t an issue for the 2 newer cars and it is only a software issue then LR want their Censored kicked as it seems to have caused a lot of bad feeling (understandably) and you could have had a whole engine Thumbs Up

Not sure on the methodology ...although it doesn't only affect LR tbh

I'm like you in so much as I don't particularly worry...my engine could run down the street like a lava flow for all I would care Laughing

I would take this with a shovel full of salt.
Currently the N222 v2 software update has solved my early service/oil dilution woes.
Mine has had 3 oil changes since May but all going ok so far now.
I very much doubt this vehicle has the same issue as mine and countless others.

You sure the software update hasn't told it to ignore the issue?

The difference is, Other manufacturers aren't trying to get their customers to Pay for the Oil and filter and they aren't telling the customer that they are driving the vehicle wrong ?

I wont go into how it is supposed to be driven, I have requested a LR Driving Instructor show mw how to drive mine at my expense, i'll pay for his time and expenses, but JLR didnt take me up on this offer.
