Horn keeps blowing a fuse |
|
I noticed after I brought my D3 that the horn wasn't working so I check fuses only to find it had blown. I replaced it tried it and it worked. Great I thought! A week or so went by and I needed to use the horn only for it to work first attempt but then to not again. Checked the fuses and it had blown again.
So being a bit of a kid at heart i found a 250DB airhorn on eBay and disconnected the old horn and wired in this new one. Jesus its loud but surprise surprise it only worked for a couple of times before the fuse blew again.
Any ideas?

i uprated the fuse for my air horn by 5amps, i forget what it was originally but whatever it is add 5amps to that and fit that fuse. ( i expect some electrical guru will have you add a remote relay if your to do it correctly but mine has been like that over a year now)
I originally had the air horn running off the disco's air tank, but alas a couple of uses and the suspension sank, now have it running off a separate pump, it is still loud but not like the your pants loud anymore like it was off the disco....
Where did you mount your air horn ?

Hi
I'll give it a go and see how it lasts. I've got it mounted behind the grill which isn't easy to see but you certainly hear it.

This post mentions possible issues with clock spring...
- maybe worth investigating before bunging bigger fuse which may turn your wire into a meltable mess!
