The hope of finding a good LR dealer service department. |
|
Firstly a big thank you to all the forum members for their postings of knowledge, advice, help and wisdom.
Does anyone have any experiences of Hatfields LR dealer service dept. in Shrewsbury? I have had very poor and disappointing dealings with LR Stafford. It’s very depressing to read so many people’s bad and negative experiences regarding LR servicing, especially when you are paying premium prices. I don’t mind paying the high cost, to maintain the full LR history but only if I get a top notch service, which unfortunately seems to be very hard to come by.
It really shouldn’t be this hard and frustrating to find a competent and above all trustworthy LR service department that doesn’t result in dissatisfaction and disappointment.
Thanks
Paul.

I may be very cynical here Paul but I think you are looking for hen's teeth.
Why do you want to maintain a full LR service history? Warranty claim/looks good on sale of car? Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector
Limo Tint
Blackvue front & rear dashcam
Cruise control switch pack
Bodsy's remote for FBH

Hi Guys,
I do have a warranty with WarrantyEasy which allows me to use a LR dealer and have already made a successful claim. I bought the car with full LR history from a friend just over a year ago. I tow a large twin axle caravan and plan to keep the car indefinitely so I wanted to maintain the car in top condition and therefore thought that the LR service network would provide the best professional, technical and trustworthy experience. They are sophisticated and costly beasts to maintain and poor maintenance can lead to more costly repairs. It looks like my hoped for great expectations might have been too optimistic!
Surely there has to be a reliable LR service department somewhere??

As your warranty is with WarrantyEasy rather than JLR I assume that you are free to go to any decent garage with the relevant expertise & equipment.
Here in Hampshire I use an excellent "Indy", who I believe provides a better service than JLR franchisees, and at a somewhat lower price.
I should add that I am known to be obsessive about maintaining (but not polishing) my D4 - someone here has asked for "dibs" so he can buy it for his wife when I come to sell.
I am sure that those from your area can recommend an excellent Indy or two from which you can choose.
It might help to edit the subject of the thread to something like:-
"Seeking good LR dealer service department or Indy in Shropshire"
Good luck.

One potential benefit of a FLRSH is should the crank go pop a goodwill gesture is perhaps more likely to be made by LR. Although how much longer that would apply for, if indeed it’s even still applicable is questionable. It would undoubtedly help resale though, even if in reality a good Independent is likely to have looked after it better.
If you intend to keep it for a long time, I’d look for a good Independent. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

Ha, you can hope for a goodwill gesture.
A friend of mine had RR sport from new as a company car, then bought it off the company when he retired. Dealer serviced at Sturgess on time every year.
Sturgess did a check over just before the LR warranty ran out.
5 weeks later he asked me about a noise that had just suddenly started, a quick listen and i told him to get it back to Sturgess and not drive it.
He had to fight like anything to get anything like a goodwill gesture from LR, and that was just a few weeks outside the warranty period 1994 Defender 300tdi 110 commercial
