Under hood ACC ignition wire for DRL controller.

Hi everyone,

I am fitting one of them DLR controller's to have the LED strip on the disco 4 facelift lights, there's like 6 wires, one that goes to the headlights, one that goes to the LED strip, one for the indicators, 2 for the battery and one for the ACC ignition.

im ok with all except for the ACC ignition, i was wondering if there's anything under the hood that i can tap off?

thanks all!

took mine from the "Japanese" (aka Chinese or smog detector) connector just above the horns.

there are also vacant fuse slots that would do.

I used the smog sensor as well, but fitted an in cab switch to turn them off as the smog sensor stays live for 'a while' after you turn the engine off and lock the doors. It also powers on when unlocking the doors, or even just opening a door when the lights have gone off anyway after the 5 or so minute they stayed on after turning off.

Got fed up of people telling me I'd "left my lights on".

It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

i would actually love for it to come on when you unlock the car, would be amazing. is the smog sensor the one i uploaded in the post like 2 mins ago?

i get the you left your lights on all the time, i have the home lights on, the amount of times ive been told is a joke. nice to reply with, they turn off automatically Laughing

not 100% sure as photo/my eyesight not good enough BUT mine was in a clip above the horns and worked fine.

tbh ... if mine came on with fob-press and stayed on 90seconds alter, I'd be happy,

so i faced a problem, firstly i have this DRL controller,

i managed to locate the the LED strip wire in the headlight plug, however as you can see in the picture of the DRL controller, its got a red and a black wire on the bit you connect to the DRL, i didnt connect the black anywhere and just connected the red to the LED strip wire. then i powered it to the battery, using the black and red wires that have the round circles, and the LED strip came on, and remains on, the blue wire is for the ACC ignition which is what you all are helping me with. i find it weird that it comes on using just battery power, i would have thought that it would only come on after it got a signal from the blue wire. so i found on another post that you can use f9 fuse which is free, i tried that with no luck, the LED strip just stays on, if the smog plug everyone is referring is the one ive circled in the picture, i tried all the wires from that too with no luck. i am wondering whether it is a faulty DRL controller or could it potentially be because i havent connected the black wire of the DRL ( led strip). although im not sure where i would connect this. i dont think it can be because i havent connected the rest of the wires, which is yellow for the indicator and white for the dipped beam.

anyone can suggest anything?

thanks all!

I got the same DRL controller on mine (if fact I sell them too). I connected my blue wire to the fuse box, the halo's (DRLs), I got power from the fusebox for well over a minute after the keys have been taken out of the ignition.

Are you sure your leaving enough time?

I connected the red/black wires to the DRLs which you should really do, not sure if it switches the live or the earth !

ha, glad to know i use the same one!

hmm where would i connect the black wire? i know pin number 2 is the where the red wire goes. but not sure about the black? i have a super small unclear wiring diagram for the headlights so not sure. can you help?

would you know what fuse you used so i can eliminate that factor and know 100% im using the right connection for the blue wire.

i may have not left it on for longer, i will try a minute each tomorrow on each of the wires.

thank you so much for the help Thumbs Up

Yes that's the correct socket, comes on when car is unlocked, goes off 10/12 seconds after, I've been using it for the last 3 years or so Thumbs Up

sounds like an issue with the black wire to me.

At the smog sensor connector, do you guys use the black/green wire or Orange/green ?
