Hitachi compressor software on my14?

Playing with my new Iid tool I find I have the Hitachi software installed, how can I check what compressor I have got without taking the cover off?- anyone got a photo of the case from under the car?
I will be disappointed and surprised if it is an Hitachi due to the year of the car. If it is an Hitachi will it run better on the later AMG compressor software?

AFAIK software and hardware must match. They’re not compatible with the other brand, either.

It’s the same on my MY14 which has only ever seen Land Rover workshops so doubt it’s been messed with.

This has only been serviced by main agents Lookers, there is no mention of the compressor in the service history.
Guess I'll have to get underneath and take the covers off to see what's inside. Sad

The AMK will run on Hitachi software- sort of. Don’t know about the other way around.

I showed Hitachi software and was getting the dreaded bong and a suspension fault but on an irregular basis, and the car wouldn’t actually drop or slow. Spoke with Pat at IID who suggested looking to see what compressor I actually had. Because getting to it is a hassle we decided to try installing the AMK software. Did that about 5 months ago and - touch wood - no faults since.

So what? The interesting bit is that the Last compressor was installed by a main dealer (full LRSH) and shortly after the suspension fault started to show. So, they changed the compressor but never updated the software.

Don’t assure your main dealer is any better than mine. If you’re getting faults that don’t make sense and the compressor isn’t the original even if dealer changed, I’d suggest starting with the software (firmware, really) as it costs no money and v little time to change, unlike removing the compressor housing. 😬

AMK compressor fitted and running on Hitachi software from new it appears without any problems or faults, now changed to AMK software again without any faults-so far Bow down

The AMK will run with certain Hitachi firmware versions but it will not be optimal hence why LR has taken the steps necessary to build a firmware specific to the AMK. In some instances, most probably on earlier Hitachi firmware version or AMK variants, it will trigger a fault.

Edit as per M3DPO request for clarity: If someone has an Hitachi compressor installed on his vehicle and flashes the AMK firmware in the ECU, it will not work. Fault code will be triggered and suspension will be inactive.

We recommend using the proper firmware for the compressor installed as per Land Rover literature.

Cheers

Thanks Pat Bow down , but you have got me a little confused with the second paragraph.

Curious as to why it would come with the incorrect firmware though?

I assume in the factory they flash all the modules in accordance with vehicle configuration and correct specification.
