HikeIt throttle controller

So a friend of mine got me a HikeIt X9 throttle controller as a gift:

https://hikeit.com/collections/throttle-co...8251797702

Apparently he's using it on his Disco 3. I have a 2016 Disco 4.

Has anyone on here used one of these? Is this a good idea? Are there any risks I should be aware of before I hook this thing up?

Looks very interesting

Scares me , but interesting.

Is it a variable resistance adjustment?

I have an EVC brand throttle controller on my 2014 D4.

First thing to make clear throttle controllers do NOT produce more power/torque than the engine produces without one. They do a similar thing to the Terrain Response settings, sand gives a crisper throttle, rock crawl dulls the response.

I was sceptical, but was able to get the EVC at a good price. My D4 is a factory low power engine (155Kw/520Nm). It does seem fairly pokey and has no oil/carbon gunk in the inlet manifold so it might have been tuned by the previous owner. But it has always been a bit laggy from a standing start. With the EVC set to +1 that lag has gone.

A fairly long thread here about the EVC version https://www.aulro.com/afvb/l319-discovery-...oller.html Most were saying +2 (U2) setting was ideal, I found this too much for me.
