Who has the highest mileage Disco3? |
|
I only do a pitiful 10-11K mles per year in my TDV6S. I was wondering how they well the take the miles (I'm planning on keeping it a further 4 years). Who has got the highest mileage D3? Do things start dropping off? Does it fall apart like a clown car in the circus at 50K? hope not.

In countries with incredible car taxation, like Denmark and Finland, we tend to use cars pretty long. Average age of cars is over 11 years here in north and also mileages are very high.
It's pretty easy to find out several Disco 1 and Disco 2 versions which are still moving fine in EVERYday normal family use and have over 350 000 km on the clock.
See one in here:

Offroader is back ! -- too many modifications made to my Disco 3 to be listed in here --

Judging by numbers of 10+ years D1's around - you would assume they hold the miles well Now Golf GTI PP, 7 speed DSG.
Ex D3 and D4

The only thing I have noticed so far is the drivers seat belt is wearing, well not exactly wearing but seams to have stretched a bit in the width. This has only occurred in the part of the belt from centre of the seat to the end of the belt when the belt is being worn say the last 400mm or 16". Looks like its being wrapped around a 25mm or 1" pipe if you know what I mean. Something to do with my fat leg I expect.
Oh and its a ba**ard to clean. But when it is clean it looks brand new. In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

When I traded in our TDi for the D3, it had only done 69k miles, mostly because it had only been used for holidays and long trips since we got the Mini a few years ago. I have seen TDi's on eBay with 250k mileages and I don't doubt the D3 could do that too. No longer a D3 owner but still subscribed to multiple threads!

I dont know if I will come close but mine has done 19000 since september 05 when it was purchased new.
I have only had silly faults, like tailgate struts and footwells not getting hot! Although it has had to have the expansion tank renewed.
Perhaps I am lucky with mine. Still love it to bits.

You obviously do this with a trailer then - how do you find it as a tow car? 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021
