Talking of oncoming lorries flashing, if you approach the brow of a hill, any oncoming lorry will appear over the the horizon cab and driver first, followed by the tall grille and (finally!) by the headlights. It’s only when the lights finally appear that the headlights dip. Lorry drivers must curse auto dip in cars!
If you’re driving along a dark road and some poor sod is waiting at a T junction, it won’t “see” that car’s headlamps and stay on main beam.
The end finally came with me when, because of an odd combination of oncoming traffic, gaps and reflective road signs, my car was on dip for most of the time and then suddenly “flashed” its main beam just as I was coming up to the T junction! Fortunately, the car at the T junction didn’t pull out.
If this is the level of sophistication of auto dip, lord help us with fully autonomous cars! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

Hi, I've just fitted a used high beam assist mirror and activated it in the ccf settings, HBA fitted (yes) HBA ACTIVATE) yes and (uk) yes. I have the green auto headlight on dash on start up but it does not switch high beam on or off, could I have missed something in the ccf settings or is it probably duff, or even can they be that bad/un responsive 😁2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

I'm trying to remember here but have you got it switched on in the vehicle service menu, the one where your oil level, tyre pressures etc are set up.Cheers Ian

Not sure, but I don’t think the later models have the HBA via the mirror, I know the MY16 doesn’t.

Just my tuppence worth.
Worst bloody invention ever. I live in a village with no street lights so always carry a torch. Usually takes about 2 minutes before I can see anything again. And cycling between local pubs at night (I'm a drinker with a cycling problem not a MAMIL) it's downright dangerous. Driver aids my a e. Gizmos for lazy f s.

Hi David,
Thanks for your feedback it’s a very good point.
In no how you feel I also live in a village with no street lights and I keep seeing this up cyclist riding from pub to pub all over the place shining a torch in my eyes, now thinking about it were do you live Sorry David I couldn’t resist, I’m only pulling your chain.
No in all seriousness I do live in a village and hate it when I take my dog walking at night and motorists don’t dip when oncoming, your right it is blinding for short period. 2015MY discovery 4 se tech with factory black pack.

Gilly1, I doubt my torch or bicycle lamp would dazzle anything, but I've seen the ones you're on about. What batteries do they take and how short a time do they last???
Any more than 1 mile between pubs and you can forget it, so sorry to say twas not I
