Hi ! Thinking of a disco 3 metropolis! Please help |
|
Hi
New to the site but what a world of info ! Many thanks in advance for any help
I’ve been looking at a 2006 disco 3 Metropolis
70k miles FSH
1 owner
Cam belt done nov 2014 40k (is this normal)
Lots of pretty new work done including brakes calipers etc
Jeep looks mint
Owner was a very wealthy local insurance broker and car was a 2nd family vehicle
Didn’t want for anything supposedly.
Just wondering are there any pitfalls I should be Looking for as Jeep seems to drive great.
All help appreciated as I’ve never owned a 4x4 before and really don’t want a money pit.

Can’t speak for a D3, but I adore my D4.
Loved the comment in a Top Gear magazine - Jeeps are bought by those who can’t find their Land Rover dealer.
A friend owned a D4 (same spec as my MY10 HSE) and sold it. After grieving for a while, he got himself a D3 (a G4 D3, admittedly, but a D3). He’s pretty knowledgeable about cars and took it to a good independent shop (Disco Mikey) to get it fixed up.
Plenty on here will be able to advise you. Bottom line for me is - if I didn’t have a D4, I’d have a D3. 2014 - D4 2010 HSE Nara Bronze
2012 - FL2 2009 GS Stornoway Grey
2001 - VW Passat Estate Inky Blue
1999 - Ford Mondeo Light Blue
1998 - Rover 25 Red

Metropolis is a great car, but regardless of the spec its all about the oil pump, nothing else matters until you know its had a new oil pump.
Bought my Metropolis 3 years ago and yes its had issues but only minor stuff you get with any car a/c pipes rotted out, wheel bearing that sort of stuff, the rest is just keeping on top of stuff so you dont get caught short.
Dont get caught up in the hype as a Metropolis is just an HSE with just about every extra bolted on, which is the reason I bought it so I didnt start doing mods and apart from an anderson socket and fbh timer thats all Ive done which for me is really unusual.
