Hi, After three desert trips in various Land Rovers I have learned this basic principle about "what car to take":
Any strong, reliable, well maintained 4x4 that has low range gear box. The comfier the better as most of your tour will be on tar and French/Spanish Motorways.
What toys to bolt on:
Get decent tyres of Road-biased All terrain pattern - Cooper AT/R are excellent, so are BFG A/T's (not so good for sand though)
Uprate your shocks to the best you can afford.
Take a 2nd spare if running 18" alloys or above.
Some underbody protection may inspire more confidence on Moroccos rockier pistes.
What toys to leave off (unless loads of money and the look is important to you):
winch
roof rack
roof/spot lights
roof tent (not required for Morocco)
You'll have a great tour in a D3/D4Fraser

ok thanks best let nene know they seem to think they will
any will standerd d4 19" be stronge enough or should i look into g4 d3 rims i think there the same apart from the d4 ones have a small square cut out of the
Ãou're overthinking it - don't forget, although the D4 looks (and is very plush) it's still got LR heritage and is designed to be an off road vehicle - the wheels are fine.LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

Here's mine (closest), virtually standard except for RAI, sump plate, rock sliders, CB, remap and (most importantly) beer fridge. Done 3 Tunisia trips so far. As I tend to travel in Billy No Mates mode I get all my gear inside so no roof rack needed. Also for desert stuff I prefer 17" wheels & Contis, tough as old boots, great in soft sand (when my brain is engaged) and when I do get punctures cheap as chips to replace. I know 17s no good for you but my fave in the sand. My advice is keep it light, the temptation is to take everything but the kitchen sink "just in case", think what will you deffo need, not maybe if this or that senario happens. If you have more than one car, you can share the extra kit.

I cheat, I have a full length cargo deck fitted with rails & holders for water & fuel. 4 Wolf boxes & 2 spares inboad/1 underneath, plus spares under the deck. No kitchen sink (the joy of ratpacs), but do carry a 3t axle stand as have seen too many LRs sat on their jack for hours at a time.

Car Kit/Loading
This was my 300tdi Disco prepped for a month in Algeria (needed 1000 mile fuel range and 100 litres of water)
Had 20l diesel x 5
20l water x 5
wolf box1-food
wolfbox2-spares
wolfbox3-tools
wolfbox4-washing/laundry kit/cooking kit
2 x spare wheels & tyres - both inside the car
A soft holdall for me and one for the wife

And that was it. Our first trip was to Morocco for three weeks in a 1972 Range Rover - we took twice as much and didn't use half of it.

hallo again
here is what i was thinking of how to store the kit on the inside of the car
i like this as i still gives me a good view out the back
ill put fuel in a long renger tank were the spare wheel was
i will take all your advice and tak two spares one in or on top of the car and the other on the back cant get the pic to uploed of the carrier
and water in a Poly Water Tank 50 Lt Vert Taper Mount with Cut-Outs for Behind Seats or straped to the storage unit
oztent most likely on the roof are theis really as good as they look and ound
i think this will work well and covers all the bases and keeping heaviy stuff low
what do u all think
