Help!! No Clutch, pedal all the way to the bottom..
For 2 days now the clutch on my D3 was a bit dodgy, while selecting gears the pedal could be felt halfway from the top rather than from the time you pressed the pedal. I mean you would only feel the clutch when it's half way going to the bottom while you'd have free movement from top to halfway as you pressed the pedal. On my way from work the pedal went even lower and had free play while gear selection was not possible. As I got home a loud noise from the pedal as if some metal had cracked and the pedal was all the way to the bottom. Now I have no clutch no gear selection ofcourse and there's a worried ME It's 12.30AM here and I am really worried as local stealer has no clue whatsoever. Pls help what can it be?

I had similar symptoms on my Defender when the clutch release fork (in the bell housing) broke. On the Defender you can identify this problem by laying underneath and watching the actuating rod while the pedal is depressed. If the slave cylinder is operating the rod (ie pushing it into the bell housing) but the clutch is not operating, it is likely to be the release fork.
Not sure if you can see this on a D3 but it might be worth a look.

I've had a chat with a local mechanic he tells me it could be the slave cylinder. The gearbox needs to be removed for that.

Could also be the master cylinder at fault if the seals have folded in on themselves.
