Help needed - "Suspension will raise when system cooled

Hi all,

Just got in the car and as soon as I turned her on I saw an error that was something like "Suspension will raise once clear of obstacle" - although not entirely sure. Checked the 4x4 screen and noticed that it was at access height, so tried to raise suspension then this error came up on dash "Suspension will raise when system cooled"

Oh yes - I think one of the sensors was flashing on the 4x4 screen when I first started her, but no longer doing so

Car has been stationary all night, all that's happened is that it's been charging all night and I ran the FHB/Timer for 20 mins before getting in to it.

Tried to drive up the road, but it's clearly on the bump-stops and turned back, 4x4 screen says 'raising' but nothing is happening. When I started her I'm fairly certain that there was a load of hissing noise coming from the engine area Big Cry

Have ran the IID tool but NO errors are showing up Confused

Any thoughts ideas? I'd have thought that the IID tool would show up an error?

Cheers
Iggy

Apart from the no errors issue sounds just like mine was a few weeks ago..... would eventually raise slowly over about 2 mins and then nothing.....new compressor.....

Plenty of threads on here all similar issues.....

Sorry! Big Cry

You said you can hear the hissing but could you hear the compressor at all?

What was the temp like last night where you are?
I've seen on a RRS last year where the air reservoir tank was about to give up and one morning a frost killed it an effectively punched a hole in the side of it (a small hole but enough to render it useless)

Cold this morning at 3 degrees, so probably colder overnight - Going out now to see if I can hear the compressor - not looking good though Big Cry

I checked the forum, so could be height sensors as well, but knowing my luck it'll be the BIG bucks failure Sad

Hi Iggy,
Might be worth checking the air pipes in the FBH exhaust area seem to remember someone post that theirs had melted after running the heater,

No obvious sing of any melted pipes, just started it again, I can hear intermittent 'hissing' noise coming from compressor, error message on dash was "Vehicle will raise slowly", but then after a few mins it went back to "suspension will raise when system cooled".

Getting out it now seems that the rear is slightly higher than front

Mine did that....faults codes said the compressor was not exhausting properly, which I took to mean the dryer wasn't working as it should....dried the contents via the "how to" on here but it had no effect....bit the bullet and put a new compressor on Neutral

I know Big Cry

Just tried to take the cover off the compressor and the 1st bolt sheared with just a little tug, it's now pouring with rain out there Big Cry Wanted to check for any obvious issues, but the car is to dam low that I can't get to anything!

Different issue I think, but my friend thought he was going to have to pull out of the Kielder trip on Sunday as his car wouldn't raise....like you he sheared the first bolt,so decided to leave it and go anyway....during the day he found that if you cycled the ignition, and tried to raise the suspension before the car had done its system check,he managed to raise the suspension before the car sussed there was a fault code and stopped him....pretty sure yours won't let you as I think it's the dryer, but it might be worth a go ?

Thanks Euan, daft question, what do you mean by "cycled the ignition"?

Having a cuppa now, while I wait for rain to ease

Turn on the ignition, only far enough to wake the electrics, not fire the engine.....try and beat the "system check" ie before it has run it's system check cycle, try raising the suspension....I'm pretty sure it won't work with your symptoms, but like anything it's worth a go Thumbs Up

Strange indeed!!!

Did the ignition thing, but no joy, so gave up and went for a cuppa and sit-down - left it a while and went out again, car starts and suspension raised to normal position. No errors and read codes, which showed nothing Rolling Eyes

Been for a drive and still no issues, not tried lowering or raising it as didn't want to push my luck, so still think I have something wrong, but for the moment seems to be ok. Going to check for leaks later today, but pouring down, so may leave it until tomorrow

Will keep you posted Thumbs Up
