Funny!!!
No - the mirror caps are from LR direct but didnt suggest an adhesive. A garage did try and fit them for me but whatever they used didnt work as the cap simply came off 2 days later!!! And the door handles (which are not from LR) had silly useless adhesive strips that were not sticky when peeled off!!!D3 TDV6 HSE

To glue anything properly you need to get the faces clean and dry. outdoors in this time of year is hard due to the temperature as well.
Iso propanol or a panel cleaner is fairly good, but if you have used any form of silicon polish, forget it. nowt will stick unless you start using very strong solvents.
Also if the parts are chromed inside, it is very difficult to any medium to stick to this without abrading the surface due to the the very hard surface chrome gives, it also cannot be chemical attacked and bonded to by the glue.
As for a glue, a two pack epoxy (Araldite) may be you best bet, for tick strip try the ones used to hold up mirrors.

As Nick (the large one) said, the proper Landrover stuff is the best. It is actually Terostat 8596 which is used by the likes of Autoglass to fit bonded windscreens in cars. It really is the best stuff to use and can be bought from motor factors etc. Sikaflex make a similar thing, but if you go to a motor factor and ask for a cartridge of adhesive to bond a windscreen that is what you will get.
