| HELP NEEDED!! Can You Manually Lock Centre Diff? |

I had my Disco 4's front cv joint break in the snow and i am looking for ways to potentially get out, it wont move due to the drive shaft is spinning in the front wheel hub and the wheel isnt turning, any help? or any tows in sheffield? does any one know how to lock the centre diff manually? Thank you , also to note that its the front wheel of which the cv joint is broke, may this change the problem? thank you all and hope i can sort it in the snow

Have you tried putting it in rock crawl mode?
Not sure if it locks the center diff, but worth a try.

No i Didnt try that, i used snow/ice, but never tried the latter, thank you i will try that thank you

Stick it in low range, suspension up to off-road height (necessary for the next step), and put the TR dial in Rock Crawl.
Or try and get someone to drag you out. The problem is that the D3 won't detect excessive wheel spin on this wheel as it won't be moving. Most of the drive will also be going to the dead driveshaft because there is no load on it.
You could try giving it a bit of gas and hope that the other front wheel spins - you shouldn't need much (if any at all) for it to lock the centre diff in Rock Crawl.
Are you actually stuck in a ditch or a flat road with easy recovery?
You could try flagging down a passing 4x4 and ask for a pull.... 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Fortunately i'm not in a ditch, though it is in a ft of snow (30cm) and also no passing 4x4's hopefully i can recovery myself or i will resort to rescue in the morning. But we all know Landy lovers, like to try and work out problems with other land rover lovers, thank you for your replies much appreciated.
Note to all your ideas, be big or small will be helpful and appreciated

Is the Disco beached?
If so, then I've been there and done that with a Pajero, not much help in locking the diffs either then..
I assume both rear wheels are in contact with the surface, one front wheel is out of action and the other front wheel is spinning in free air. Unless the car is resting on its belly then it should be possible to get out, have you tried using floor mats or anything like that as traction surface under the appropriate wheels?

Tried using rock crawl mode, its not working as well as we had hoped, no traction at all, it wont grip at all sadly. any other ideas, sorry about the lack of photos its snow heavy and camera is rubbish. thanks though
