Help - LR3/D3 locks itself |
|
I need some advice: I‘m currently travelling in Albania and the LR3 (SE V8 2005) started to act strange.
It locks itself after 1-2 minutes. After unlocking and even open the doors and the tailgate, it tries to lock itself shortly after. I tried to read the fault codes but couldn‘t find anything related to central locking system.
I noticed, that if I leave the iidtool plugged in, everything is back to normal.
Now I‘m afraid to get out of the car for some reason (filling fuel, check lights, buying parking ticket) and leave the key inside the car as I usually do. I try to avoid that but with old habits you never know I‘m also leaving the iidtool plugged in all the time for now.
I‘ve been doing some offroading here - could that have triggered a sensor fault?
Is there a possibility to disable auto locking?
All advice are welcomed!

Not sure on 2005 whether they had auto locking. Does it do it when engine is running if so it could be something in the ccf file. Have you updated something recently with the iid tool. Have you got damp mats as there is a twisted green wire in the sill that gives locking unlocking problems. Is the key fob original or have you replaced the battery. Failing that you may have a short.

All Discovery’s after and including D3’s have auto locking, it should only work after 3 minutes with the key removed providing nothing has been operated except the fuel flap after opening drivers the door, I don’t think it can be disabled although drive away (when the car reaches 5mph) auto locking can in the CCF.
Try a hard reset if you haven’t already done so. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

It does self lock when engine‘s off or with engine running when moving faster than 5mph as default.
I use the iidtool very often to level the car for camping.
No sunroof leak / damp mat.
Key fob is original and I never changed battery.
I updated from IOS 12 to IOS 13 on my iphone which I use to pair with iidtool before I left. So maybe there‘s some issue with the app (newest firmware installed).
Haven‘t thought about hard reset Will try this first thing in the morning.

Does it do it with both keys? It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I tried both keys but couldn‘t see any difference.
Reseted with iidtool under ‚Service/test - Vehicle reset‘, unplugged BT dongle and the car locked itself after 1-2min
Unlocked with key fob and it hasn‘t locked by itself again. Just can‘t find any logic in that.
Or should I do ‚Save/Restore - Restore Settings‘? I‘d like to avoid that if possible.
