Help -What is leaking?

Was under the car today (as you do) and noticed oily mess around the front of the main under-shield. I'm absolutely rubbish with anything deeper in than a brake disk. Took the tray of an took this pic. Please tell me it's obvious and easy to fix - a DIY maybe? It's the same on both sides if that helps!!

The other side

When its dripping on the floor thats called a leak, what you have there is just a bit of sweating.
I would clean off with brake cleaner and monitor.

drivers side ?

try this :

remove the plastic cover with the 4 trim clips.

you will then see the intercooler hose. Is it oily ?

Get a tray and news paper

Undo the hose and pull it off carefully.
A fair bit of black oil will come out. Let it drain. Then clean up the mating faces and refit the hose and jublie clamp. hopefully a bit tighter than before.

I guess the passenger side is more difficult. So avoid that side!

Hi Pete, same both sides - identical. Hoses have been replaced recently; which may or may not make it worth checking out.

Bet its pas oil from the rack gaiters?

I did have the pas banjo bolt on the pas pump itself go slack and this leaked downwards and off the passenger side gaiter, quick nip up and clean off and thats been ok so far, but both my gaiters especially the drivers side one is a bit sweaty, not enough to drip yet so ignored!

So as I suspected the pictures are of track rod ends (with gaiters/boots) yes? Is that the same as tie rod ends?
