Help! Keys locked in Discovery
Hi all... I have won the prize for turd of the year!!!!
Working on the Land Rover last night fixing tailgate actuator. Fetched one set of keys to test it, found it to be flat... placed that one down and fetched the spare. Checked lock etc, got distracted by chat with neighbour, turned round, shut the boot, locked both Keats in the boot. I have read other threads on a similar theme and know of Cornish Boy who may be able to help. I have PMd him, but if anyone had a way of getting in touch, that would be great. We are due to go on holiday on Saturday πππππ.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Eddie

Are you a member of the AA as they can sometimes pick the locks, not sure if they can on the D3 though.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

Pick the smallest and cheapest to replace window and find a hammer
It shouldn't have locked if it detected keys in boot ... or at least my D4 won't..

Is ordering a new key from a dealer an option, though time is deffo against the OP? Does MrsKD have a car big enough to take on holiday?

Plenty of people breaking D3's
I had to do this with my old van, or at least someone had smashed it when I got back. I was just grateful it was the one where the tinting was on its last legs. Luckily my policy covered for glass so all windows were covered.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

There may be specialist auto locksmiths that can get in. If you're with the RAC/AA give them a call. They did this with my wife's Audi, RAC tech said he was only going to cause damage so they called in the locksmith and he was in within 5 minutes with a laptop and very special key/fob. Cost Β£100 but well worth it.

There is a tool that can be bought for around Β£40 through the trade or online that will allow the passenger door to be opened if the lock is not seized.Must stop buying shiny toys....

I had to do this on my navara the other day. Looked on eBay and bought the cheapest one before smashing it. Found Β£60 under the seat when hoovering up the smashed glass which more than paid for the window!

Haaaaaa.
Not helpful I know, but did similar on my disco 1 year ago. I was at a LR event, so decided to put the key under the driver side floor mat so that my brother or I could use the car as needed through the day. As I shut the drivers door it blipped and locked. F**K! The door side pocket pressed the lock button on the fob through the floor mat....
AA got in in seconds.Series one 1949 - in bits, chassis is strapped to the ceiling in my garage (beside the canoe)
LR 90 - In bits
Disco 3 - currently in bits

Managed to get in with a Powerfix kit. Β£15 at Lidl. Bent the door a little but managed to bend it back. Thank goodness it wasnβt deadlocked.
Lesson learned π

Result.
Now do what I do when I know I could lick the keys in the car, put one on a lace and either hang it around your neck or fix it to your belt.
And enjoy your holibobs.
