EPB squealing its head off and sticking intermittently - up in lakes at moment so if I manually release - will it be OK to drive for a few hundred miles - unless good garage around Kendal?

Should be OK provided you obviously don't reapply.
I would check handbrake drum temperature after a couple of miles to check that brake shoes aren't dragging on and overheating but should be OK.
I use an infrared temperature sensor to check as I have had a dragging brake shoe issue with my LR3 a few years ago.
