profsrg i run a full time independent LR garage so its not a one time issue so buying an expensive tool is ok for me........... just as long as it works.
The gauge i have is from FESTO and the pipe with valve from SPX cost me over €200

i have consulted Robbie's bible more than once and i also spoke to him on PM.... this was more than a year ago........... as i said i have been trying with this car for nearly 2 years.... and 2 more independent garages tried and LR local dealer too.....
i have fixed loads of cars with P0087 and P2290 and never had any issues but this one is not a normal car...... it has been to some mechanic that messed it up completely i am facing the consequences.....
i will try changing the entire fuel tank soon

You will find differnet post on different threads form me about this car........ never got anywhere.

Plus 1 , indeed remove it and fit a straight schrader union

Maybe the insert is stuck or full of junk, know I had to replace my Schroeder valve insert

Just remembered after I removed the schrader valve insert , I pushed a rubber tube on and into a container , started the engine allowing any junk to come out , engine off, left the tube on and pushed on the pressure gauge , restarted the engine , worked a treat

its a proper schreder valve connection with cock that opens the valve like the ones used to fill gas shocks and the same idea as filling AC gas.... but i will try without it .......... worth the try as i'm more that desperate

Plus Also if u don’t mind me adding , are the seals gone on the throttle body where the large Y fitting is please , as it looks very oily around that area, plus if the Map sensor is clean , not sure if that’s the fuel temperature sensor next to it and if that dirty as well

out of curiosity would u mind taking a closer pic of that valve please or maybe a link, yeh i know I need to get out more, lol , thks

hi all

i have been trying out this car and it seems that it does not do this fault when engine is cold..... it happens when the engine reaches normal running temp.

can anyone indicate to me the max allowable temp of the fuel at which the engine runs normally as i think this could be a cause

It depends on various temperature factors, as a guide though a fully warmed up engine (78°c) should show the fuel rail temp at about 60°c. If the fuel temp exceeds 85°c fuel to the injectors will be reduced as will performance until the fuel has sufficiently cooled again. From cold, the fuel temp should be at or very near the ambient temp.

The sensor is part of the fuel spill pipe! Thumbs Up

Hi

Did u check out the throttle body large O rings , as that fuel temperature sensor also looks dirty next to the throttle body Y and Map sensor , alas I might be barking up the wrong tree

How did u get on with the fuel pressure gauge plse

Of course though Prof g is considerably more knowledgeable than myself , it was just something I saw in the picture and if it may have a bearing on the issue

the fuel temp sensor including fuel return assy is brand new genuine lr since the as i just changed it

Just seeing what looks like oil on that throttle body I wondered if the large O rings were perished

How did u get on with the pressure gauge plse, did u mange to get a measurement in the end , thks

OP back with an update LPFP changed. NO FIX

OP back with an update. I see the thread has been busy while I have been gone. Which is good because I have similar issue to Ironly. That is not promising since he has been at it for 2 years.

Update: Changed the LPFP this weekend and I still get limp mode. Main fault code isP2290‐00 Injector control pressure too low. Today I also got a new code P0089‐22 Fuel pressure regulator performance -general signal failure ‐ signal amplitude maximum.

The car now has a new HPFP and LPFP.
The current draw and pressures from the LPFP got much better after the swap.
5.08 Amp
5 PSI on idle
7.5 PSI not running.



I have been googling and checking around on the forum and some seem to think that P2290 can be caused by the car going into limpmode for another reason. Can anyone confirm this?


Another suggested it was because of faulty height sensors since the car lowered in limp mode. Which mine does. Can anyone confirm i their car lowers or not with regular fuel related limp mode?

One guy had similar issues that disappeared after changing torque converter TC??
