A close work colleague has a D4...about two years + old - still under warranty
a couple of times it has done the following:
start engine...
into drive...
foot of brake & onto accelerator...
nothing happens when you depress acelerator till about 4 - 5 secs
then it works as per normal
....no other faults
no other warning lights
Has anybody had the same or can suggest what may be wrong
It has been to a Stealers & there was no errors in the memory
Thanks in advance.. BREXIT - done properly.

The dreaded acceleration lag!!
I think I'm right in saying that there may be a software update?
I took my 2012 in to the dealers in April and they said "a foot brake pressure switch problem"
Outcome.....ok for a while but not much better than when I bought the car in March.
Anyone any further along the line with this?

Paul
I will convey the data to my colleague...
What puzzles me is that this fault is very intermittent.....which means if it is a software fault its conditional...other things have to be there to have it happen..(maybe engine temp, ambient temp, other variables from sensors through the multitude of processors)
Surely this would have been sorted on early service software mods / upgrades ?
Many thanks BREXIT - done properly.

Mine did this last week, as I was coming out of the Dartford tunnel Even the hand throttle didn't solve it. It was just after I'd switched the cruise control off. Was that a factor? I'll chat with the dealer on Monday. My17 Volvo XC90 Inscription

The hesitation seems at it's worst when the car is cold .........can be an age until anything happens especially from standstill or when you have lifted off and re-apply the throttle !

Quite agree Peely
I thought the dealer had fixed the problem 6 months ago on my car when they said it was a footbrake pressure switch, but it has gone back to its old habits again
Does anyone know what LR say about it and do they intend to do anything? At times it can be positively dangerous.

Paul, agree the problem can be dangerous at times !!
I too had the software update and new brake switch fitted several months ago, and as you say it was better for a few days but then reverted back to the old problem, serious hesitation !
At least a couple of us from here have written to LR as well as our local dealers and heard nothing back, personally I think LR are well aware of the problem but just chose to ignore it and hope that customers will do the same !?

i think it ties in with coming to a junction mainly, its almost as if the gearbox is confused. It also takes a while to change up for the first half mile or so. Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Right then...time for a call & email to LR!!
At least if we call/email them and say "It is downright dangerous at times", they have been warned and whatever happens thereafter is back on them! Saying it could cause an accident, which it could well do, might just result in them looking into the problem a bit further.

I think all D4's have a similar problem but the 2012 8 speed model seems to suffer the worst !
