A Hello from Strathearn Engineering
At Strathearn Engineering you’ll find state-of-the-art Land Rover expertise, with labour rates from only £60 / hour. Located in the heart of Scotland, we are approx 20 miles North of Stirling
With over 10 combined years experience, our mechanics are Land Rover specialists with a passion for the Land Rover marque and for customer service. We maintain, repair and sell pre owned Land Rovers.
As an independent garage that has been successfully trading for almost 20 years, you can also be sure that we always work to budget: we can also offer fixed rates for servicing for some models, so there will be no surprises. Any necessary additional work is discussed, explained and costed in advance.
You decide the service deal that’s right for you; it’s why we offer the option of a fixed-price service or a price based on the actual time and materials used.
We will meet your needs in full and at all times. We can help, whether you want us to MOT your Discovery, update your service book and re-set the service reminder. We offer the option of vehicle collection and/or return.
We never forget that you are the customer. All work is undertaken by dedicated and skilled mechanics who are happy to explain the work they propose to carry out on your behalf, and to explain the work they have done.

Welcome to the nuthouse, we have read lots of good things about Strathearn.
What sort of price would a Discovery 3, 105,000/7 year service be, with all belts etc. I would be coming down from Turriff, Aberdeenshire and staying a couple of days, probably in Perth, or is there somewhere beside the garage that doesn't require transport.......and not Gleneagles .
Stewart.

Hi Stewart, we have a few options with regards to cam-belts and servicing
Firstly, cam belts. To replace the front cam belt + tensioner, and HPFP belt and tensioner, is £1300 + VAT
However, we would advise replacing the idler pulleys for the front belt, and also the aux. drive belt while it is in bits. The parts are an extra £50 + VAT, and there is no extra labour, so £1350 + VAT
With servicing, again, a few options. Normally, with a car out of warranty, we supply a service kit, which contains ALL filters (Oil, Air, Fuel + Pollen filters) and carry out a strip and clean of the brakes. Normally, we charge £375 + VAT for this service, but with a Forum Discount, we will do the service for £350 + VAT.
We always advise a brake strip and clean, as we find the brake pads do tend to seize in the carriers over time, which causes the brakes to start binding. Although, we can carry out the service without doing so, which is only an hour less labour, so £260 + VAT
However, we can also carry out the 105k service to manufacturers specification, which is then only an 'A' service, which is only an oil filter, pollen filter and some oil. I dont have exact prices to hand (closed for bank holiday) but it is likely to be around £140-£150 + VAT.
The work can be done in a day, and we do have courtesy cars available.
If it is any easier for you, we have a technician who lives in Dundee, and could meet you in the morning, or the evening before with a courtesy car, and save you some travelling, if it helps any

Is "Speed Control" equivalent to "Cruise Control"?
My local indy uses autologic and I will need to activate cruise control soon but said he's never done it. Would be great if I could sit down with him and point him to the right screen to do it. Dennis

Hi there have a discovery 4 SD XS and wonder what you can enable on it. I know you've posted a previous reply but all I seem to be able to get is "click image to enlarge"
Thanks Mac.
