Height sensor electrics, the beach, the rain and Innox |
|
Hi everybody.
As an old auto electrician I'm not really impressed with the wiring termination on the suspension height sensors. It seems to me that a few kilometres on the beach and the odd creek crossing are just begging to cause trouble and corrosion here. I have purchased some Innox to spray the terminal block with... anybody else got any comments, queries or experiences on this?
Cheers

With unprotected wires, plastic connectors and sensor housings, it doesn't surprise me some Discos develope electrical faults. In the sometimes harsh factory floor environments, most factory automation electrics are in metal conduits and all sensor and connector bodies are metal with an IP65 rating or greater. Naval applications demand water immersion IP ratings. '06 Disco 3 TDV6 SE Buckingham Blue

I still can't figure out why it seems to be such a problem down here, yet our UK brethren go through mud and water without as many issues. Or are we whinging more about it?
Cheers,

I think it is a week point. maybe some vehicles are better sealed than others. I also think the conequences of being stuck in the outback are greater than just down the road from Tescos.
So we are going to be more concerned about preventing it than just having it fixed if it happens. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

That is what I was hinting at... the UK models may be sealed better from the factory as they are more likely to encounter mud and water crossings, than we are down under.
They probably save 50p on every Australian model they produce and don't seal properly.
