Heater Blend Motor
Hi, I have been reading a lot of information on the forum today regarding heater issues. I have come to the conclusion that the passenger side blend motor has probably packed up on my car. (2005 D3, RHD)
I have found the part description from the workshop manual others have posted on here, but I cannot find the actual part number, or a picture of the item.
I have seen a few different part numbers and a few different pictures but would like to know for definate what part number to order.
From the information I have I need part shown as 7 - LH temperature blend motor (automatic system only)
Does anyone know what the exact part number is please?
Many thanks

Hi
The part numbers I was given by LR for the 4 stepper motors are as follows:
LR 041274
LR 041273
LR 041272
JNC 500050
unfortunately I can not say which one you need.

Thanks for the info, I shall have a look at each and see if one looks similar to the faulty motor in the car.
Cheers

I thought mine was knackered too when I did the trouble shooting buttons. It turned out in the end my A/C was just low on gas.
I plugged in my IID and it seemed to confirm that everything was working as it should be, it shows the position of the flaps and all sorts. Just as well before I started having the dash ripped to bits. Someone might be able to correct me if I have been looking at the wrong thing.3 Flash Indicators

Thanks for the tip, not sure mine is down to air con, it doesn't make any difference if I have air con on or off, the passenger side doesn't get as hot as the drivers side.
I suspect the blend motor because if I set the passenger and drivers side both to cold (air con on or off) both sides blow the same temp air out, face, feet and screen (damned cold this time of year!). However when I set both sides to hot, the driver side gets very hot as usual, but the passenger side only gets warmish but never hot. The temperature on the passenger side does change with knob position, but only from cold to lukewarm. So, I suspect the blend motor is only working perhaps 1/3 of it's normal range.

Ahhh I see, I was the opposite with mine, in the summer, the passenger side would blow cold air but the drivers would only blow warm air out.3 Flash Indicators

Frustrated now!
So, I've spent a happy few hours today removing the disco interior to get to the blend (or air mix) motor. Time consuming but not too difficult thanks to a great 'how to' someone has written on the forum
The frustrating thing is that having spent hours messing about with this it still doesn't work properly.
Anyone have any ideas why the passenger side will only work from cold to luke warm and never gets as hot as the drivers side??
If it carries on doing this the solution might be a gallon of petrol & a match, then it'll all be the same temp!
Could it be the control module?

When you say spent hours messing around with it, what did you do or not do?

Hi Nick
Basically I removed the centre console and replace the passenger side blend motor, then rebuilt the inside of the car. Not technically difficult but very time consuming.
So, all I've really done is fit a brand new blend motor.
I have also tried the heating reset procedure holding down two buttons whilst turning the ignition on.
I've experimented a little, when the car is up to full operating temp, if it set the passenger heater to 28, and the drivers to about 22 - 23, then set the air to face only vents. The passenger and drivers side feel about the same.
However when the car is cold, the passenger side blows cold for a long time before warming up, the drivers side warms up as you'd expect.
I was fairly sure it was the blend motor after reading the forum as many posts describe similar issues for a car my age (05 plate with 152,000 miles)
It's not the end of the world, but I just want it working properly as it's the only thing letting the car down (at the moment!)
Cheers
Simon

As mentioned above have you checked the air con pressure?
Also does your external and internal temp sensors read the real temperature? thinking if one sensor is duff the car thinks one side is colder/hotter than it really is so is trying to compensate.
