Heated windshield - upgrade from non-heated
Hi All,
Does any of you know if it is possible to get heated windshield just by replacing the glass to the one with wiring within the glass? In other words is the wiring to connect to heated screen done by default on post-lift cars?
To make it more complicated it is US version of Disco (LR4 - 2015 make).
Question is for less tech savvy friend as none of local glass companies know answer to this and they don't want to order two glasses to choose once all is opened.
Certainly not only wiring is required but CCF config later on, though this will be probably easier to be done comparing to if wiring for the heating would be missing.
Was it not a standard fit on all discoveries? Even if wiring is there, you may need a new hvac panel for the button. There is also a “smart” function where it switches on automatically below 4degC so the power wiring must pass through an ECU somewhere. I suppose you could bypass that and take a separate switched feed to the connectors on the glass

I think the wires should be behind the internal A pillars on each side
As mentioned would assume u need a control panel
Wonder if u plugged that in and turned it on if u could then test the wires behind the A pillar
Maybe the fuse needs to be inserted along with turning the option on via diagnostics
Hope that also helps

It could be a standard in EU though it is NAS build (LR4) and apparently majority of them were with the cold climate package unless were destined for the likes of Texas - just a thought, as this car has everything, including rear-lock which wasn't standard for NAS builds, yet missing cold climate
Thanks for help. Hope was that it will be down to use heated windshield + CCF programming. Good point about control panel, as I got derailed as there's a button to enable defrosting, though it might be wired differently than the usual button would be.
