Heated Windscreen
I got my 55 plate D3 about 10 days ago and only tried to use the heated front screen for the first time the other day. When I turned it on I found that it only cleared four strips of about 2" across on the drivers side.
Anyone know if this is the elements in the screen that are at fault or is there some other fault that would cause this.
Regards
Chris

my 55 plate disco went in for this fault today, screen is split in 2 sections i belive. as with your car i found the fault 2weeks after getting it. taken 2 months to get LR to replace due to screen having a stone chip in it.
LR wont pay if its chiped but as i did not chip the screen dealer are covering the costs.
phone your dealer and get them to replace screen under warrenty thats if you got it from a dealer, if not could claim on your insurance easy enough.

Hi jimbo
Got the disco from a dealer and it has no chips in the screen.
The car is out of the 3 year warranty but I got a 12 month warranty as I bought it LR Approved. Would the windscreen be covered under that or do you think the dealer would replace at their cost?

You may not be able to see a Chip Repair from a previous owner TBH, they are supposed to be near on invisable. Once the chip is repaired the RESIN kills a 2-3cm strip of the elements. So a possible cause there. I still would take it back TBH, its part of the working D3, and it aint right. They should replace the screen if that is the cause.
Remeber to take that picture to the dealership, as that will explain more than you can

Must have run into the back of a gravel lorry
Take it back, I'm sure the dealer will sort you out. Seems that for what ever reason at least part of the screen is working so unlikely to be fuses etc.
Lucky you bought now and not in a few weeks, could have gone months without knowing, then come Autumn dealer far less likely to help "To finish first, one first has to finish ...."

I would think it would be covered by extended warranty if its not i would hope the dealer would cover all costs as you have only had the car a few days. Im sure my dealer has claimed through LR as the chip is on RH side and the LH side of screen is not working.
With no chips on your screen you should have no problems getting a new screen.
My dealer said as a last resort if nothing could be sorted with LR due to chip that i could claim on my insurance and dealer would pay excess (last resort and not ideal IMO) .
Hope you get it sorted

One more thing print some pics of the screen frosted showing it not working and email/show your dealer.
My dealer wanted to see pic to send to LR showing fault

As you say 90 BHP, glad we had that last couple of days of cold weather or I wouldn't have noticed. I have got to go back for a few bits and bobs this week so will show them then.
MacLeod 313 - will be joining the BAS remap club tomorrow. Had a call from Pete and as its only round the corner will be calling by in the morning.
