I wouldn't be too worried about what voltage you're getting at the clock spring - it's what you get at the ECU that matters
Do you mind me asking if your meter is working ok - I take it that it's not a digital multimeter with all this talk of needles Shocked

Embarassed
It's a 1982 Macronta which I bought for £4.99. Excellent value I thought.
Actually I have my late fathers one too if you're interested.

I have a spare ecu from a heated wheel if you think that is what is causing your problems. I have just had to swap mine from the older type to the newer one to get mine to work. Send me a pm if you are interested.

I have tried another ECU and just got back from my local LR dealer parts dept in Hainault and tried another switch which also didn't work. I cancelled the sparks when I tried the ECU because I thought it had to be the switch. Now I'm stuffed if I know what I'm doing.
I suppose the sparks has to be the route forward now. Unless anyone knows better or can point me towards something different.

Was the switch of the correct age?
If it was MY16 then it may not be compatible with your car, certainly not without a CCF modification to enable it (if not enabled already) - I know it wouldn't work on my MY10 regardless of CCF settings

Switch was for a 2012MY so the right one for the car as such. I have a supply through the clock spring. It worked so it surely isn't a compatibility issue. If it's worked, even for a short period of time it must surely mean there's an open circuit somewhere? I can't believe I'm knocking out ECU's as I'm doing nothing more than is expected by the ECU. It must be a poor connection somewhere. Sparks is the way, I've lost too much time and brain cells to care too much any more tbh.

Ok, auto electrician has been but couldn't do anything as his diagnostic equipment wasn't up to it (so he says). He suggested I take it to a main Stealer to get it looked at. Yeah right!
I am now happy to sell the car and buy a Lux or Landmark, just have to convince the wife. Big Cry
I don't know where else to go with this any more.

Was the auto electrician frightened by the task ?. You are not having any luck with this.

Seems odd that you can't get it to work. When I went to view the car at my dealers I asked about fitting a heated wheel and they told me you can't fit one, you have to have it fitted when you order the car built, think they need to look on this forum.

What's the plan now after all the hassle you have endured.

Like the grill mod you have done, looks good. Thumbs Up

I thought about seeing if the warranty would cover it but it doesn't. Also seems a bit of a cheat to claim. I need someone who knows their stuff or buy another unit and have a swap about. I would like to try enabling as the sparks said it could be that the system allowed it to work until the next ignition cycle and then switched it off. Can't see it myself but worth a go if anyone local has the box of tricks needed to do it.
Anyone local able to help?

Mine needed to be enabled, but they all do from 2014 on apparently. I had no trouble on my 2010 MY as just fitted it and it worked ok, must have been lucky. Maybe it does need enabling on yours as LR change things for no reason just because they can. At least if someone checks the CCF at least you know then that side of it is ok.

Yeah you're right, I'll try anything now tbh, just doing the enabling ticks another box towards getting it sorted.
So anyone out there with the kit to enable my steering wheel heat who're relatively local to Hornchurch, if you could let me know. It may stop me from kicking the chair away from under me.
Thumbs Up
