Good afternoon
I have a heated steering wheel in my D3, it stops working occasionally when the wheel is turned.
I have just taken the airbag off and noticed the plug that feeds the heating system (control box, switch pack) look as if it may be loose and the cause of the cutting out.
I have disconnected the plug and re-connected it and it seems to be working at the moment, however I know the forum sells the plug for the supply side(the other side of the clock spring), is this the same plug and if needed can I replace the one inside the steering wheel with one of these to make it work??
Is this a regular problem?? Can the plug be taken apart to clean it??
Thanks for any help you can offer.

The crimps are known to fail yet leave the outer insulation intact.
Symptoms can vary, cruise and night time illumination became erratic on my wheel. I extended the loom and recrimped, all good and all working fine again. Mods:

Hi Narpy
Thanks for the reply, what did you use for the connectors?? Where can you get the connector from, is it the one that is listed in the shop??
Best wishes

I had some old computer cables kicking around that had the same connectors on, I just spliced these in and everything works perfectly.
On the loom it's possible to extract each wire individually and check each one before plugging them back into the white multiplug. Mods:

Thanks Narpy,
I wondered if the plugs could be taken apart, I will try taking it apart first and make sure the connectors are clean and see if they can be tightened up.
Thanks again for your help

You will also need a new clock spring with the extra power feed and possibly a different switch pack
