Heated Screen

Hi

how long should it take to clear a relatively heavy frost. Mine seems to take forever.

Thanks

Paul

Few minutes tops, even in these conditions at -15c. Lot faster if you hold the revs at 2000rpm. Whistle

Hmmm. Maybe faulty. Seems to work sometimes though.

Mines usually clears pretty quickly, about 1-2 mins depending how cold it is. Is yours an original screen ?

As far as I know. strange thing is sometimes it works quickly, other times not at all and sometimes very slowly.

Could be your battery charge is low and so the car stays in low power mode until it's built up some charge, screen doesn't work in low power mode, only essentials do. Next time, try gently raising the revs to just over 2k for a couple of seconds rather than idling and see it it kicks it - that's what happened with my D4 anyways.

In my case caused by too many short journeys in the winter not giving the battery chance to recoup the cranking charge - apparently it takes about 9 miles driving to recover from one engine start-up.
LRs are a fond memory, apart from the maintenance.

very possibal the case. I should have tried turning up the stereo as this will indicate if it is in low power mode. I did just move it out of the drive the night before and it had been sat there for 3 days.

Thanks
