Headlining around front sunroof stained - leaking roof? |
|
Several months ago I noticed some light staining around the panel where you control the front cabin interior lights - at the time I presumed it had been there since new (Jan 2010 car, I bought as an ex-demo a couple of months later), and presumed I must have not spotted it before (although unlikely, as I keep my car immaculate). So I got some special interior cleaning wipes from Halfords and it tidied up quite nicely.
Looked again today and it's come back, although much worse and more widespread. It's all around the front end of the sun-roof panel, around the light control clusder again and spreading.
Can I presume that I have a leaky sunroof at the front causing this? And if so, is this a known fault on early D4s? For the record, I have probably opened the roof about 5-6 times at most since owning the car, and only ever in the height of summer, so it's not arisen as a result of being left open accidentally.
Still, it could be worse. It's nearly a year since the whole engine blew up and died permanently at 14k miles. Here's hoping my call to Harwoods Croydon on Monday morning sees this put right promptly.
I just worry that now water / dampness is "in" the car, and fairly near some electric bits etc, it could cause further problems? And to think my car had actually been working nicely without any real faults or issues for a whole 10 months in a row. Ah well...
(as an aside, I do wiish Landy would offer D4s with anthracite headlining) for a true all-black interior option.

I recon it's Blocked sunroof drains. There's a fix to clean them on here, look in the wiki or if not there do a search for block sunroof drains

Thanks MrH. Found the instructions on how to do it - but that's a job beyond my skills. To the dealer it goes. Am not a DIY person, I only break things or muck them up, but at least this suggests its nothing beyond repair. 747_JK

Well at least you're honest about it. But then again, it's still in warranty so they should not only fix it but also replace t he stained headlining.

New front sunroof glass and headlining installed by the dealer last week - looks lovely. Fingers crossed no more leaky problems! 747_JK
