Headlight Sensor

I've got a TDV6 S and the headlights have been upgraded to xenons. I'm wondering whether it's possible to upgrade the headlight switch so that the headlights come on when automatically when it's dark. I see from the manual that other models have a switch with an Auto setting so I would think that this is possible. Can I buy the switch & sensor and is there any existing cabling within the car that I can use to set it all up?

If so, Any ideas as to how much the switch and sensor will cost?

Thanks in advance.

Mine's a 56 'S' and has the Auto feature too. You must be a victim of the LR Hokey Cokey mentioned in another
thread today.

What MY is yours Daf ?

I think the 'S' came with auto headlights from MY07 onwards and then they dumped the 'S' moniker for MY07.

Its all far too confusing to keep up.

The sensor is part of the windscreen and can't be bought seperately, you'd also need a new rear view mirror and trim - check behind the front roof console to see if the wiring is there, not sure if the configuration is 'there' in all vehicles but if it does work, you'll probably end up with auto sense wipers as well (but that can / does need activating)

SOunds like too much ork. I thought that the sensor might be in place and that a new switch and some wiring would sort it out. I'll leave it to the buzzer to remind me to turn it off!

The car is an 2005 05 (June).

Think on that age the Auto lights came with the "bright pack" - puddle lamps etc
