Headlight glass replacement

Is it possible to change just the glass (perspex) on the headlights or is it a replace the whole unit job?

Sadly as you take them out you realise they are a sealed unit
If one is broken, have you tried ebay as I suspect new they are not cheap

I have 2 new ones from ebay but they are slightly scuffed. they were cheap though!
My non-xenon ones are like new. the ebay xenons are scuffed but fine. just hoped I could swap the glass over (I am sure there must be a way!!!?)

I saw a tutorial a long time ago about how to modify the RRS headlights so the orange plastic was replaced with a white one.

In involved the headlight to be put in the oven at specific heat for specific time - then the clear plastic could be seperated from the rest of the headlight with some brute force and a butter knife because the glue/sealing gave when heated.

When done the unit was reheated and resealed.

Too sad i dont remember where i saw it, but is was a webpage abot making the RRS lights clear - both front and side repeaters.

Cheers
Jakob

it can be polished, I did this on an old unit, quite scary as it involves wet-n-dry paper but it works.

Looks a lot easier and safer than putting plastic in an oven and prising apart with a knife and then expecting you will still have a sealed unit
