Headlight adjustment on 2014MY after HIDS4U xenon upgrade
Hi guys, need some advice as I've searched the forums and not found anything to solve my problem.
I've upgraded the hopeless HIR2 halogen bulbs on my D4 2014MY to a xenon kit from HIDS4U and I'm super pleased with the results! However I need to slightly lower the level of dipped beam as I'm occasionally dazzling other road users. I'm struggling to find out how to do it, but looking behind the headlamp unit I can see a green adjustment thing, see photo, does that adjust the vertical shutter position? I guess I can just turn it and see what happens, but thought I check here first.
Any help much appreciated.

So I've answered my own question and yes the little green thing does adjust the shutter up and down, so all sorted now.
Although I can't believe this information has been excluded from the manual, I guess LR just assume that we shouldn't be fiddling with such things. Mind you I couldn't find this info on the web either, I know it's pretty obvious, but you'd have thought there would have been something somewhere.
Hope this helps someone else anyway.

I guess that will be because it is illegal to fit Xenon lights without self leveling units!
Does the HIDS4U have this feature as I beleive the new MOT this year may pick this up??Series 1 V8

All Disco's with air suspension are self levelling, but they all haven't got headlamp washers which is an MOT failure
There are two screws on each lamp, one for vertical, one for horizontal adjustment. The reason it is not in the owners manual is it is considered a professional job and need appropriate equipment to adjust to MOT standards, the same equipment is used in the MOT test It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I thought that the Air Suspension meant that it was self levelling too, and I have headlamp washers, so I assume that will mean a pass. I guess we'll have to see when it's next MOT'd. I've kept the old bulbs just in case.

As I understand it the cars suspension itself keeps the headlamps on the correct level, which seems weird compared to other cars weve had where the headlamps itself does the levelling.
Is the beam pattern any good? as thye will also check this on the test.
Self levelling or not they still need a means of manual adjustment for intital set up and in service repairs.

1/ other cars don't have air suspension.
2/No, its very good.
3/ Read my previous post It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
You have all you need to permit fitting of Xenon units
however and it’s unlikely , but a really picky tester can fail them based on the housing being manufactured for halogen and not approved for Xenon, very slim chance thoughAltox GSM FBH controller thread

1, actually other makes of cars do have air suspension, some also have a combo with air only on the rear.
2, i asked what the beam pattern was like, by that I meant on the beam setter as used by the mot guy.
3, i did I think
As I understand it of the lamp unit is not designed for a perticular type of bulb ie led n-plate lamp then thats a fail, ao Im assuming headlamps will be the same.
On your car does the low beam lamp have a shutter as per earlier D3 hid xenon lamps? and does the other headlamp light up on high beam, ie do you get 4 headlamps on high like my D3?

Sorry to drag this one up, but how are you getting on with them 2 years later?
Considering them for my 2014XS, as having driven my wife's C class with Xenon lamps I actually find it difficult to drive my D4 especially in the dark/wet.
It's made me realise just how bad the original lamps are.
