Headlamp Wash System
By way of brief background….. My D3 has recently had front end crash repair which necessitated front bumper and radiator replacement amongst other things. The front end was significantly dismantled.
The headlamp wash system appears to only work once irrespective of the number of times the windscreen wash system is used. It resets when the engine is turned off and re-started and will only work once.
I have taken it back to the local LR dealer who tell me that there is a time delay of between 15 – 30 mins before the headlamp washer system will work again.
Rather than drive round aimlessly for 30 mins to test this I would like to know whether this is correct as I recall prior to the accident that the washers operated after 5-10 windscreen washes. (cant remember the exact number)
My handbook states the headlamp washers should operate each time the windscreen wash system is used however the dealer says the book is wrong.
So the dealer wants me to collect the car this evening and if they are incorrect Id like to be able to offer them some guidance from you good chaps.

Tis normal. Will only wash the lughts every five times it washes the screen, as long as it is not too short a time. It will wash the lights more often in some off road modes.

I would have to check up the exact time but I don’t remember it being as long as 30 minutes.

Hi VOD80
So are you confirming there is a time delay in the system? I take the point it may not be 30 mins btw

Yes, there is a time delay. I need to check but I’m pretty sure that it is 10 minutes - like I say, to be confirmed

My current 2005MY D3 has always only operated once , Reset by either turning off/on headlamps or ignition. Other D3's I have owned have been the same . Never operated as per the book. Always passes MoT and if I want to operate more often I flick lights on & off. I have driven for hrs. and they never operate twice without a reset with the lights.
