Does HDC work in reverse ?

Ok - I am going to be doing a bit of launching off sandy beaches & some concreate slipways & maybe some suprises like shingle beach (My late D2 did a fine job of going up a steep shingle beach) with a RIB attached, this year, so whats the plan when I am reversing down that slippery slipway can I use HDC ?

Now what about getting back up that slippery slipway with mr huge RIB on the towbar ?

I have no problems even on the green stuff going back up with 2000Kg boat on back. But I go low ratio and crawl really slowly until off the green slime. Either way it does it. Never needed to use HDC to go down the slip but I presume there not as steep as yours. I know its obvious but make sure the sand is firm enough by the waters edge when youve been on it for a few mins, landrover or not once you sink up to the axles your not moving and with the tide coming in it can be a bit scary! Yes I was that idiot Smile.

HDC Speed

I find that the HDC is set at too high a speed when you really need it (about 10km/hr).

Does anyone know if this can be reset at a lower speed?

Yes, ISTR the instructor tellling me to use the steering controls button when HDC is in use to increase/decrease the speed. I think we had it set at 1.6mph

You can 'dial down' the speed by using the plus and minus cruise control speed button on the left of the steering wheel. I think its .5 MPM increments... but could be wrong here.

If you press and hold either plus or minus it will set the HDC trigger point to the speed you are going.

Will reset itself to the default once the D3 is powered down and restarted. Or I think if you de-select HDC and then re-select it.

The speed adjusts with the cruise buttons and I often use it to vary the speed mid-slope. I often find the slowest is too slow for the surface and I toboggan. A quick prod on the loud pedal and a few prods of speed + add a touch of speed and control is regained.

I find that I can quickly reach the slowest speed for the slope without going faster than I need. It's dead cool.
