Not based on reading, just based on my own experience of track driving. When on a hard corner the front tyre that is carrying the predominance of weight of the vehicle sits much flatter than the unladen one, the other side does not have the same load (sometimes barely any) and therefore develops significant negative camber which will cause scrubbing on its inside edge. That's what I was trying to show with the photo. Anyway, this is going way OT from the original post.

I had this.

I resolved it by getting my SAS steering angle sensor reset and having my wheels aligned.

Tried:

Hard Reset
Sensor being the break... Can't remember what it was call

But the SAS reset worked... Good luck

Issue still Persists

Hi All,

My battery is in shape and I've changed the tyres and did alignment, changed all the discs , brake pads and sensors (one of the wheel was out/spoilt).
Had another diagnosis done at a specialist garage in Barking and got the YAW Rate Sensor fault and a 'Pressure increases too slow when filling reservoir' message . Got about one grand(£1,000.00) bill to change the air compression Pump and the Yaw rate sensor - Pictures attached.

Any advice please?

just to my experience. I had my 4 wheel alignment done at KwikSh*t last week and went away for half term. Noticed steering wheel was off to the right. Everytime i hit a motorway or fast A road and drove for say 10 mins in a straight(ish) line i got Emergency brake faults and Stability control faults. Got it code read and sure enough Steering Angle sensor was out. Basically it thinks something is wrong, why are you driving to the right for extended periods at speed and goes into a limp like mode with lots of faults and lowers suspension etc.
Fix is a proper alignment at another garage that knows what they are doing and in my case that means a £400 bill for track rods, and steering rack ends too.

Best Place to Buy Full AMK Upgrade Kit Please?

I'm hoping that upgrading my 10yr old original Dunlop/Hitachi pump with new AMK Suspension pump would resolve my lingering 3 amigo lights woes and I've seen a number of them @ £570-ish on FleaBay.

Any advise on the best place to buy please?

Hi, Not sure why replacing the most expensive part in the system is going to solve the three lights issue!?

I've got the same (3 amber lights), but gallery pressure is all fine and the pump works great.

Part of the problem is now solved (broken wire to front valve block), but I know that my Yaw rate sensor is talking rubbish, so that will be part of the problem too.

Once I've fixed the Yaw rate sensor (which is probably wiring again) then I will see what other error codes I have to sort out.

If I was going to cherry pick parts to replace I'd start with the ones at the outer extents of the system (height sensors, valve blocks, wiring, steering angle sensor, brake switch) and work inwards. Ultimately though, I'd actually start with finding some error codes.

What other symptoms do you have? Can you still get the car to raise and lower at both ends manually?

Hello Matt,

Thanks for that brilliant cherry picking idea!

The car is only on normal height, cant raise but can change to low range. Special programs not working.

I've change a few things though. Bought a new battery:

I've changed the Yaw rate sensor (not a new one though) and the sensors on the wheels.

for starters, I'll order the brake switch and the angle steering angle sensor right away - not sure if those are easy fix and something I could DIY like my Yaw rate fix.

I'm not sure of which area to look regarding wiring. Can you be more specific about the wiring please?

I'll clean the valve blocks over the weekend although they look okay from outside.

Mo, please please please get something that will give you error codes rather than just buying bits. I wasn't promoting "cherry picking" just suggesting that you were starting at the wrong end anyway.

It sounds like you are randomly replacing parts without knowing whether they are faulty or not !?

That approach can end up costing you a lot of money and not actually fixing the problem in any event (you might get lucky). For example the fact that my Yaw sensor return signal is talking rubbish is probably due to a corroded wire somewhere near it, rather than the component itself - its basically just a variable resistor that is moved by motion, so a corroded wire in that loop will be changing the resistance too.

You will have gone to a lot of effort to replace yours (centre console out, carpet cut etc) but there may well have been no fault at all with it.

As for valve blocks, well again they are pretty bomb proof and the wiring loom is much less so. But again without having an error code to tell you if there is a problem triggered from either of them, you'll just be spending money and guessing.

Height sensors: all four aren't going to fail at once, yet you'll have spent £120-£150 (I guess) replacing them.

Do get an ID tool or similar, or go to a local garage who has diagnostics kit, and this should get a lot easier.

What!!! Shocked

I'm sorry but it's not a perfectly normal wear pattern at all. Rolling Eyes
There's no reason why you can't expect even tyre wear with Discovery ownership. You must also remember the whole of the cars geometry relies very heavily on the running gear being correctly aligned, when it's not, all sorts of issues can raise their head including symptons very similar to what is being described here.
The forum is full of advice regarding getting an accurate 4 wheel alignment performed to prevent uneven tyre wear and loss of special programs errors so to suggest otherwise is just not correct.


I'm with you on that one nappy
I had uneven tyre wear on the rear and the exact same lights on after a certain amount of driving all Manner of fault codes stored.
All fixed after polybushing the rear and geo at the stealers Thumbs Up

i've got an iid and will plug it in for u foc and help out where i can

always happy to help any fellow member , i've also replaced compressor, valve blocks etc

i'm in swanley , not a mechanic by any means , just what i've learnt so far from owning the d3 ,

know the iid won't reset ur suspension but can read the faults
