HDC Failure

My HDC has given up while at a pay and play site today, I still have ABS and TC but no HDC. Any ideas what might have caused this? I also dont have any reverse lights when reverse gear is engaged but the reverse lights flicker on and off if I let the car rock back and forth in a rut (90 degrees to rut) and its in nuetral. I was wandering if the 2 are connected? Where is the reverse light switch on a manual? I did bottom out a couple of times while climbing up hill on to level ground ( brake over), could that have knocked the wires loose?

No reverse light switch on box, it uses an XY sensor below the gearstick. I take it you don't now have the indication on the dash telling you what gear is selected. HDC could be related IMHO as I know the HDC system reacts differently to whatever gear is selected.
