| Hardwire dash cam into fuse board. |

I'm going to fit a dash cam with a bought fitting kit to my 2007 disco 3. Can anyone recommend what fuse to plug into. Should it be switched fuse or something that is permanently live. Does anyone have any ex-officio doing this.

Hi
I have done this too with a piggyback fuse. Don’t recall which I used now but on my d3 I had to make sure it was switch as the dash cam seemed to kill the battery. Even with the small solar panel plumbed in( very useful when camping as the d3 also drains by opening and closing doors lots during setup. )

Thank you for the advice. I was hoping for the camera to be able to detect movement when it was parked up. But as there's a chance it'll drain the battery I'll stick to a switched fuse.

That was my plan too. But after a few very low batteries I thought better of it. But then again if your dash cam has a decent built in battery. It might be ok. (Mine is rubbish ) And with the piggy bank fuse you can try it and see.

I hard wired mine into the rear view mirror auto dim power supply, (not sure if all D3 have this supply wire) this means when you engage reverse the cam swicthes off for a few seconds, but has been zero issues 2 maybe 3 years now.
Makes it easy to fit as no need to mess with CJB and it is right next to the camera, loads of room to stash any spare cable as well.

That's that sorted. Bought the kit and plugged it into a 5amp fuse. Working fine.
