For the first 2 years, each trip to the dealer was a round trip of just over 1400 kms. I am more than happy with the level of service, the only problems have been when the dealer had to refer issues to LRA. The costs have very reasonable. 06 TDV6 SE with many LR and after-market extras. Used only on weekends and trips out west.

Just thinking about this poll and it is fairly ambiguous. There is the perception of the LR dealership sales team... then the other of the service team. It seems most people are happy with the former, but opinions of the latter vary a lot.

cdrtravis wrote:The LR dealer here in Darwin is very good. I bought my Evo from them (they are primarily a Mitsubishi dealer), and now the D3. Friendly, no BS and offer a good after-sales service. The only thing I have against them is they weren't very generous on the purchase price of either vehicle, and one trade-in figure was frankly insulting. Either that's because I'm a crap negotiator (I tried!), or because they are the only dealer in Darwin and so have a captive audience, or both.
I'm glad you have a good report on the current Darwin LR dealer. I was in Darwin for three years from 2003 to 2005 and the dealer up there was a bandit, burglar, pirate, unprofessional(you get my drift) and I spent two years with LR Help desk(not) after talking to every LR owner I came across. Some were so angry as to say they would never buy another Land Rover and I rang and emailed the help desk, emailed the head of LR Aust. and finally found the PAG rep. (Premier Auto Group, LR, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Volvo) and he said we know of your problems and are working on them After I left I guess it changed If you want a good deal on a car in Darwin you have to ring around. I had a friend who decided to buy a 4wd and a Prado Grande. He was able to get it $8k cheaper in Brisbane as the Darwin dealer would not budge so he flew down and drove back and saved $7k. Nothing is easy in the Territory(6 years in Alice and 3 in Darwin). The only things easy in the Territory are drinking and relaxing 2013 D4, E-diff, Vision pack

Purchased ours from Barbagallos in Perth but as we are travelling, have only had it serviced there once. No complaints. Since then I have had services at Black Forest in Adelaide (no longer a dealer) no complaints, Bruce Lynton on the Gold Coast no complaints, Sutton Motors at Alice Springs - absolutely first class service, whatever the dealer's name was at Dubbo - very ordinary but they did fix the problems.
All problems with the vehicle have always been fixed under warranty without complaint or question. You can't ask for more than that. D4: Expedition Rack, 104 Litre Long Range Tank, Raised Air Intake

Have just had the Disco into Lennock Motors Canberra (new dealer) for work under extended warranty. They had to replace the fuel pump. They are very new to working on Discos and the repair took much longer than expected. They always kept me informed and were very pleasant to work with. So far so good. They are still getting up to speed with Discos and there is a long waiting time to book in for servicing etc. They hope to improve the waiting time soon. First impression is that they are muuuuucchhhh better than the previous stealer. Retired Bob

Stewmair & Drivesafe- Lance Dixon's salespeople arrogant? condecending? haughty?
All of the above.
Rang them with full intetion of buying back in early 2006. I rang from work, at Connex.
Salesman asks "What that noise (wilst laughing) a train wistle?" (Had been enthusiastic till this point)
"Ah, yes it is actually. 'I drive them for a living, amongst other things." i replied.
"Oh" (stops laughing). 'I dont know if we have what you are looking for here." 'You might have to come and have a look." 'Bye".
I thought you head. You have just done dough son. I would of been one of their most loyal customers. I grew up walking distance away from their Doncaster dealership and my parents still live within walking distance of the same so I would of done all of my servicing there and dropped around "The Olds" for a cuppa or two whilst the D3 was being serviced.
Moved my loyalty to Morwell & Massaro Motors. They win. I have in 3 years bought 2 Discovery 3s and yesterday bought SWMBO a Golf from them. Including services, spare parts, toys and accesories over $200k.
HA HA. Sounds like the arrogance and attitute of at least one Lance Dixon salesman has cost the company. Rather dearly too. Did you think I would leave you crying,
When there's room in my D3 for 7,
Climb in here Joe we'll soon be flying,
I can go just as fast with 7.

Well,.....maybe, BUT I think from some of the comments and stories it doesn't matter if we are talking about Sales or Sevice departments of a dealer as they are part of the same place and generally under the same influence from on high. Some dealers who are money driven (as opposed to customer driven) will cut corners in sales and service areas. Obviously there are good people that can work in a bad department (and visa versa).
So a customer's opinion of the dealer is influenced by how they are treated and in my case it was VERY badly by both sales and service departments at the Dubbo dealer (Heyer Ford by the way ).
To the extent I now drive 3.5 hours each way to the next closest dealer (Trivett in Parramatta) and will DO ALL I can to ensure that Heyer Ford get as little Land Rover customers as possible. And all I am doing is telling the truth. I would be very happy to see them lose that franchise as they do nothing for the good (although that is debatable) name of Land Rover in Australia.
PS: Trivett have been great. regards
Peter

Blacklocks in Lavington NSW/VIC
Service manager - tops
had a suspension fault (3faults) in the Flinders Ranges - rang Blacklocks who spent 15 mins on the phone with me trying to fix it - no avail. He said when you get back just pop it in.
when I returned he inspected the vehicle almost immediately I arrived (even with his mechanic sick and not in), got rid of the faults after showing me how it all works, showed me the suspension problems in detail AND did 3 or 4 software upgrades for a grand $ total of NO CHARGE
you think i'm impressed - you bet

As i am currently in the process of finalising my purchase of my first Landy I am currently happy with the attitude and respect shown to me, sadly most dealers have ignored me. You see, I am 26, I wear Thongs, Hoodies and Jeans on my days off to go and look at cars. My experiences at dealers are disgusting. Just cause I am young I have been judged. Then when I wish to test drive they want to come with me.
Only by chance am I dealing with ULR Malvern (Right car right price), and I have to say they do not judge but do need to cut the BS. They initially were showing me the wrong (newly traded) vehicle which was pretty much double my price range (the internet ads got confused), and so yes I am on the lower side of the money but still a sale. They gave me the car for a day, and prepared to hold the vehicle to assist with a better delivery date for me.
The biggest issue I have had so far is the waffle. I want to buy the car, lets talk money, then sign the deal. Instead I get stories about this sale and that sale and what he thinks what I should think. Take me seriously cut the BS! Do the deal and I will be happy. Is it too much to ask?
I am hoping to do all servicing out at AMV in Ringwood - from what I have heard they are good - and hope it won't kill my bank account.

Welcome adzee,
Probably worse for you due to age but BS is not unusual for car dealers. Depends on the the salesman. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

That's not unusual . Many ask for a driver lic. and even require an insurance liability
( first $1750 of damage you cause during drive; accompanied or not ) to be
signed - LR , BMW , Lexus , spring to mind. Others don't bother with anything
whatsoever !
