Handbrake orange warning light.
Hi I have recently purchased a 2005 discovery 3 HSE Auto. When i bought the vehicle the orange handbrake warning was showing but the handbrake would operate normally using the button.
I have now purchased a Mongoose jlr to read codes etc. I have fault code c1a41-01 in epb which is clutch pedal sensor circuit. I am assuming the secondhand unit came off a manual vehicle.
When I try to reprogram the unit it keeps coming up with manual then tries to program the clutch position sensor.
Hopefully someone has come across this before and is able to help.

Just as a thought, you indicate it is an "auto" so it will not have a clutch pedal. It may be referring to the brake pedal switch which often gives odd ball problems. Check the rear brake light bulbs as well

After further investigation I have found that the engine ecu, bcm and instrument cluster were replaced after water damage. Second hand units were fitted from a manual vehicle hence why it's looking for clutch pedal position.
Does any one know if engine ecu part numbers for manual and automatic vehicles are the same or different?

I always thought those ECM's where different on an auto and manual. There is a file call CCF that has many different settings. Maybe it will allow changing from manual to auto but not really sure so would wait till someone more experienced comes along.
Does it actually run with those ECM's fitted.

Yes it runs and drives. My only issues are the orange handbrake warning light, HDC not working and no low range. I am beginning to think all issues are related to the Manual ecus that have been fitted.

I would think that is a good thought. It may just be the BCM one.

Orange handbrake warning light
My Lr3 has the same issue. the orange handbrake warning light is on, HDC not working and no low range not working. My ECU's Lockset was removed from a Manual car and fitted on my car. Anyone who can program it for me online will be great because I'm from Kenya...

RCM, EPB, TCM, and RLM are all vin coded so they must be harvested from the same donor vehicle.
The BCM will need to come with the donor KVM,IPC, and keys.[/b]yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Doesn't the "reinstall new module" option in JLR SDD work on them? Assuming they are the same units but with different programming, this procedure would download the latest firmware for these according to the vehicle VIN and apply it to them including actually writing down the vehicle VIN to the ECU.Wojtek
