hand break

Hello,
I recently purchase discovery 4 , 2013 model
The hand break is near the gear on the left.
Question.
If I am driving at speed and accidentally, a child pulls the hand break, then what happens? Does the hand break work
Whike the car is moving fast?
Thanks

Yes it comes on, just as it would if it was a manual hand brake, except with more force, which is another reason why young chidren should always be in the back, belted in.

There is a short pause before it starts braking and it does a warning & bong when the emergency brake function is activated.

It does bring the car to a halt quite effectively!

And equally effectively ejects said unrestrained child through the front windscreen. A mistake made only once, I fear.
