I knew things were going to well! My 2008 Discovery 3 has been going along nicely now for well over 2 months without a fault.
I parked it on a hill this morning facing up handbrake on and went to work. 6pm went to go home hand brake made a strange noise then the warning โ ๏ธ hand brake failure.
Got the supplied tool kit and managed to hook the cable and with a bit of coaxing the brake came off, but warning stayed on. Hand brake will go back on with the lever although it doesn't sound healthy when it goes back on. But won't release unless I do it manually.
I've been told by the mechanic I use in my town that they are a pain to repair. He has a D3 as well, mainly for off-roading.
So it's sounds expensive (again)
Any thoughts anyone?
I've already spent a fair bit on it. 4 new tires, new compressor, new radio with touch screen, new wiper motor, new front brakes and pads, I'm sure there's more but I've only owned it 2 1/2 years I think. 1971 Series 2a sold (regrettably)
1991 discovery (stolen, burnt, recovered, sold,)
2004 discovery td5 sold
2008 D3

Depends what it is, mine went last year but all it took was to adjust the brake shoes and and itโs worked fine since (note to self still need to replace shoes)
If itโs the parking brake module, their a pain to replace but doable with some bruised knuckles, if you feel adventurous and want to save cash you can get a spares kit and replace all the plastic moving parts on he existing module 2008 HSE Stornoway Grey
My Wife thinks the D3 is a hobby, The D3 thinks the wife is ๐
