Hi Ian
yes it's possible to retorfit xenons into you halogen lights. But I can't stress enough if you dont want to blind people then you need the h7r kit. Many people say their kits are h7r but there is only one kit that has been designed to not glare just like a factory install. The oem d2r bulb has some reflective paint to reduce glare and the Chinese manufacturers after months of me asking 5 yrs ago started to produce a h7 version. But the problem I then found is that the oem xenons have a shield at the bottom of the bulb so no light what so ever comes out of the base of the bulb the headlight bowl.
The h7 bulbs I refer to are designed by me and made just for me in korea. These have reflective paint at the bottom of the bulb and as such eliminates glare by stopping light entering the light bowl from the bottom
if someone tells me how to post a picture I will show the glare issue
regards
ian

Thanks for that. until i get sponsorship sorted i feel like i am treading on egg shells so no external links Laughing

Ok so here goes - sorry its a Jeep but all my D3s have had OEM hid - this was my brothers car:

This is what the light from the orginal H7 (or 9006) bulb looks like in the headlight:

First pic shows what the correct HID H7R bulb looks like (this is in fact a 9006R which i also designed but the beam pattern and glare is the same). Notice the very clean cut off with no light in the bottom part of the reflector bowl:

Now this is what a bad HID normal bulb will look like without the coating:

ouch - get the sunglasses 8)

now to show what the glare looks like in my test rig - first picture is my HID R bulbs then the normal HID bulb:

Hope that all make sense - and helps you make the right choice

I actually dont sell normal HID bulbs to people with none projector lights - ie reflectors - as its dangerous.
If i had more time i would make this a national compaign to try and reduce the problem - whilst giving more people access to HID light which is much safer than halogen as you can see ore and be seen better!!

Cut out the glare, clean your lights and make sure your lights are level and we will have safer roads Thumbs Up

Regards
