Hello. I have an LR3 S 2008 with halogen headlamps. I want to replace the headlamps with xenon ones. I have a pair of XBC500402/500412. The shop I go to said it requires i) ballast/starter (of course the set comes with these), ii) probably upgrade of harness (is it really necessary?), iii) in some of the forums I read there is a coding involved?
Can you comment on these? Also in one of the forums I read an earlier version of the bi-xenon headlamps (non-adaptive??) is easier/plug and play for this swap, is this true? Anybody with experience on this? Thank you

First thing to check is if there is a red wire in the headlamp multiplug that fits into the rear of the headlamp unit?
Makes a huge difference if it's there............for the better.

Config update preferred. Otherwise it can flash on start up or similar.
Yes, avoid AFS
You don't need any tools to change the headlights. So do it yourself.
Remove grill.
Pull 2 metal tabs up at the top of the headlight and remove. They can be a bit stiff
