Halfords extreme headlight bulbs
On their website they are doing them on a buy one get one free. So I am tempted. Anyone tried them ?
Cheers

Save yourself a bit (edit: lot!) more money and buy a pair of Osram Nightbreaker bulbs (also +90% brightness) from the likes of Powerbulbsdirect on eBay
Other bulb suppliers are available 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
Any issues with the site let me know!

Hello
I have Philips X-treme Power bulbs in both my dipped and main beam headlights, and have the blue vision side light bulbs. I can honestly say they are very good, and far brighter than the xenons on my Volvo at work! I would definitely recommend them to anyone like myself who does not have xenon headlights.

Do they make a lot of difference compared to the LR standard lights?

I think they make a bit of difference over the std Halogen lights and are worth trying for £20 a pair (or whatever). I tried Osram Nightbreakers 90% brighter, last winter but they both failed within a couple of days of each other, after just 3 weeks, I got a replacement set no problem, which lasted little longer so I got a refund. Next tried the Halfords 50% plus which seem to be just as bright and have lasted over 12 months.
Maybe the 90% plus bulbs overheat or something.

I put mine in the day I got the car back in July, and have had no problems. I bought two pairs of H7 as the D3 with halogen lights uses H7 for dipped and main beam. They tend to come with a free pair of Philips Blue Vision side lights bulbs which produce a whiter light.
You could get away with just one pair if you only want to do the dipped beam, but I chose to change both dipped and main beam.
Having seen other D3's in my area that do not have xenons, the bulbs I have are definitely brighter than the standard headlight bulbs.
I have previously used these type of bulbs in other cars I have owned and generally had good life from them.
Hope this helps.
