Half working heated windscreen?

During recent sub zero weather (-4 celcius) I switched on the windscreen heater to remove the thick ice.

After a couple of minutes the drivers half of the screen was totally clear, but the passenger side was still frozen, with an clear dividing line exactly in the middle of the screen. On close inspection I notice that the there is a gap in the heating elements at this point. i.e. there appears to be two separate heating grids.

Anyone any ideas on this one?

I hope it is not something daft, like it senses whether anyone is in the passemger seat before it will work .

The connector is behind the A pillar trim. Take out the "airbag" warning badge and remove the screw, pull off the trim and you will find the connector. If you have had a windscreen changed, its not unheard of for the fitters to forget to plug them back in.

Are there separate fuses for each side?

I could only find one fuse. Located under the bonnet. (07MY)

I know they are seperate connections and circuits. Sure I had read a previous post about fuses ? Just tried searching but can't find anything.

Edit from the user manual:

Trim panel on A post is easy to pop off, so as suggested worth a look. Nip into a Volvo dealer before hand and buy a ticket clip. Fit it while you have the panel off Mr. Green

I had the same problem earlier in the year. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the entire screen under warranty (thannkfully before it ran out!)
