Greetings from ……….. somewhere out east. Again.

Yep, it’s that time again.

Now in Boston (USofA version, not Lincolnshire) on yet another jolly round the big blue marble. Heading vaguely south and west across America for now, in 5 weeks should pop out at the Pacific then a bit of French atoll hopping, down to NZ, up to Fiji, N Japan in mid winter (as you do), finishing off in Singapore. Anything to get away from rainy old UK, though Hokkaido in Feb promises to make UK seem tropical!

Hopefully can bung up the odd usual irreverent pic or observation. This trips been about a year in the planning, fantastic it’s finally here and we’re back on the road.

What a life Del I'm positively green with envy (and absolutely nothing to do with my nationality Wink )

I'll be checking in daily in anticipation of your entertaining and fascinating travel log episodes, so travel safe and enjoy the trip!

Actually, come to think of it you could be in the unique position to be this sites north America political correspondent given the upcoming electoral events expected there during your stay!

How about a new (temporary) forum ID!! Laughing

Tell me about it. We didn’t think about the election when we sorted dates out and, you guessed it, we’re in Washington DC for a few days before, and on the day of, said election. We’ve even got a tour of Capitol Hill on election day. To paraphrase Col Kurtz, we love the smell of CS in the morning! Laughing Laughing

Nothing to report so far apart from the usual jet lag. And breakie doesn’t open for 2hrs 20mins. Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Well whatever you get up to please try not to get arrested for sedition! Laughing

What no brekky in the land of "whatever you want whenever you want it" 24 hrs a day?

The world's gone to hell in a hand basket, time for political change perhaps. Laughing

You and Nige will just have to cuddle up for shared bodily warmth. Thumbs Up

Re 24hr food, that would mean getting up and venturing out onto the mean streets of Boston. Since none of the places we are heading to today open until 10am (incl Apple store for some desperately needed tech upgrades) that’s a lot of wandering. Shocked

Nice city Boston especially around Faneuil Hall where you should be able to procure some brekky.

Hope you like weak coffee and Pretzels. Laughing

Afternoon all, from a booooooooootiful sunny Boston. Here’s a few pics, will bung in the text afterwards. VC allowing!! Laughing

This is the view from our hotel room, looking right over the Boston Tea Party ship/tourist bit. Those white boxes are the tea chests, tourist gleefully throwing them into the harbour. Not our cup of coffee. Whistle

Been enjoying a few beers here, in fact they even have a station dedicated to SWMBOs who enjoy a drop of the old amber nectar.

Good wander around an old Fletcher class destroyer, the USS Cassin Young. Oh, and did I say it was boooooootiful weather here?

The USS Constitution, prob the USN version of HMS Victory as still on active navy’s books. Great to wander around, but like Victory you have to keep low.

Notice the British guns. Long story made short a not very bright navy Lt in 1927 was tasked with getting guns made for the then being restored ship. Nobody noticed the GIIR logo until it was too late. Doh!

Old world Boston with ambulance hussling through.

In Franeuil Hall food court. Mega busy as it was lunch time but treated myself to an expensive lobster roll. Won’t be doing that in a hurry!

It’s Halloween(ish) if anyone hadn’t noticed. This is certainly one of the cheeriest looking skeletons.

And same house, they’re not going to be short of food after the day.

And it’s the fall!! Boooooooooootiful with much competitive pic taking with Mrs DSL.

We’re off to NYC tomorrow by train, it’s been a lovely few days here with plenty to do and a great place to get over jet lag. No lounge for evening vino and nibbles for a while, just Joe’s Pizza is only a 5 minute walk from our hotel near Times Square so I think we’ll survive. Thumbs Up

Oh, and if you lot are feeling short of culture, a few pics of pics from the Boston Museum of Fine arts. Great place to spend a few hours, and the only place where a Constable is one side of a corridor, with a Picasso t’other side.

This one is a pic of a pic of lots of pics.

My fave pic, can’t remember who painter it but loved the detail.

Looks like it was designed by a 6yr old and made in his dad's shed from leftovers. Laughing
